He is refurbishing a former vintage boutique on the town’s High Street and will sell a range of art, sculpture, glassware and furniture.

Martin said the town is close to where he lives and attracts many visitors due to its quaint appeal and the fact it is used for filming period drams such as BBC One's Poldark.

He has worked as a dealer while presenting shows, including Flog It!, and ran a stall on Portobello Road and previously traded as The Table Gallery in Marlborough.

The new gallery in Corsham, also to be called The Table Gallery, will launch with a guest appearance by pop artist Sir Peter Blake in late February.

Two new shows

The BBC announced in the autumn that the Flog It! series, which ran for 17 years, would end. Martin has two new shows that he is working on. The first, Make Me A Dealer, first broadcast last month and a second series is planned. He will also begin filming for a second new show, Curiosity, in January. The show is described as a cross between an antiques show and Crystal Maze and maker Hungry Gap Productions is advertising for contestants. The studio-based quiz show will be co-hosted with a Bassett hound called Baxter and contestants can win as much as £1200.

Martin’s new book - My World of Antiques: collect, buy and sell everyday antiques like an expert – was also launched last month. His book tour will include signings at auction houses Adam Partridge and Moore Allen & Innocent.
