A record 44,000 visitors attended the fair, which takes place in the grounds of The Royal Hospital Chelsea. Of that number, 8500 attended the Wednesday preview.

Robert Young Antiques was among those reporting a stand-out fair. The folk art dealership made more than 50 sales during the course of the event to a number of international clients.

Early sales included a set of four 1745 candlesticks which were offered at £350,000 at the stand of Koopman Rare Art, as well as two prints by David Hockney, each for a five-figure asking price, which went from the stands of Sims Reed Gallery and Lindsey Ingram.

James Rolleston, specialist in 18th century furniture, also reported positive results and added that the fair “keeps getting stronger” every year.
