Jean-Paul Engelen has been appointed deputy chairman, Americas, for Phillips.
He will carry out the role in addition to his current responsibilities as worldwide co-head of 20th century and contemporary art.
Global chairman Cheyenne Westphal said that, as a deputy chairman, he will continue to work on strategy, client relationships and “drive our ambitious and creative plans to build the strongest contemporary department in the business”.
Engelen has previous experience working at Christie’s and Qatar Museums. He has worked at Phillips since August 2015.
