Taylor, who has one of the most comprehensive collections of early English clocks, is a successful inventor with 400 patents to his name including creating electrical safety components and switches used in the electric kettle.
A set of six postage stamps issued by the Isle of Man Post Office focus on different areas of Taylor’s career and life, from his inventions and philanthropy to his clock collection.
Born in Buxton, Derbyshire he has lived in the Isle of Man for many years and was awarded an OBE in the New Year honours list in 2011 for services to business and horology.
Taylor, 80, said: "I’m delighted by the creativity shown by the Isle of Man Post Office, who have captured my life story in a colourful and imaginative way. I have lived my life deliberating, inventing, creating, producing and perfecting. It would be marvellous if others seeing the stamps were to follow my motto, 'Cogitate Incogitata', Think the Unthinkable."
The six stamps range in value from 47p to £1.86 and depict the ‘chronophage’ - the clock he designed and installed at his former college Corpus Christi College at Cambridge University, the Taylor clock collection, his inventions: the bimetal kettle switch and the Otter G switch, the museum Arragon Mooar, and the Taylor Library.
