Expected to lead the collection is a Montblanc presentation set given to Sir Christopher and Lady Lee on their 50th wedding anniversary. This lot comes with a presentation box engraved Gitte & Chirstopher, 50 Years of Love & Passionate Commitment, which contains a Meisterstuck 146 and 149 Solitaire Doue Geometric Dimension black fountain pen, each with caps decorated in a geometric design.

Among the standout pieces is also a Montblanc Meisterstuck model black fountain pen. It is engraved to the barrel with Lee’s signature and is estimated at £300-500. Another key lot is a Montblank Meisterstuck Pix ballpoint pen, also in black, engraved Christopher Lee with a circular cut sapphire set at the cap end. It is estimated at £150-250.

A saleroom regular

It is not the first appearance of items from Lee’s collection in the saleroom, though it is the first time his pens have featured. In 2014 a memorabilia sale at Bonhams New York included a wizard’s staff from his role as Saruman in The Lord of the Rings trilogy (it took £110,330 including buyer's premium) as well as a sword from the same films. Following the actor’s death last December, Surrey auction house Ewbanks sold 39 lots from his estate including 13 souvenir baseball caps from "The Hobbit" and a velvet smoking jacket Lee wore in the television series “The Tomorrow People”.

Lee appeared in The Wicker Man and the Star Wars films and played Scaramanga in The Man with the Golden Gun.

The consignment appears at Dreweatts & Bloomsbury’s sale of jewellery, silver and pens on April 12.
