Among the ancient Greek coins to be offered in the auction to be held by Heritage Auctions on January 8 and 9.

The 29mm diameter silver stater from c.530-500 BC, which is decorated to both sides with an ornamental tripod, is in a style particular to Grecian Southern Italy and hails from Croton (now Crotone) an area where the mathematican Pythagorus and the Olympic wrestler Milo resided. It has an estimate of $5000-7000.
