Descartes is a web-based software provider for businesses that offers advice on and help with logistics. It has a direct link with HMRC systems, and BADA members, who can now use the software at a discount, can employ it in ensuring compliance when exporting and importing goods.
“Exportation of goods, whether for sale or for international exhibition, is a major part of working in the fine art and antiques industry and is one of the key administrative challenges facing dealers,” said Marco Forgione, CEO, BADA.
He added that the relationship will be important since many BADA members are SMEs and “look to us for legislative clarification, in particular around their Temporary Admissions requirements”.
Pól Sweeney of Descartes said that the technology was created to simplify “the complexities of customs clearance and compliance”.
The partnership, which launched earlier this year, is open to all BADA members.
