The 60-plus lots have been consigned by Simon Benney, son of the celebrated silversmith Gerald Benney (1930-2008) and himself a designer and jewellery maker.

The collection includes a dozen watercolours landscapes studies works by his grandfather Ernest Alfred Sallis Benney (1894-1966), a Bradford born painter and designer and later principal of Brighton School of Art.

Pictures by his uncle Derek Sallis Benney (1924-2010), a draughtsman and calligrapher and his brother Paul Benney (b. 1959), a successful contemporary portraitist are also represented.

Of particular interest is the art of Gerald Benney whose series of more than 20 pen, ink and charcoal female nude figure studies carry estimates of £100-400 each with two oils expected to command close to £1000.
