A post on the auctioneers’ Facebook page reads: “It is with deepest regret that I have to inform you that Barbers has ceased trading with immediate effect. Any queries please call or email the office.”

Woking-based dealer John Barber started the auction house in 1920 and it was bought by Keith Mansfield in 1964. His daughter Heather Mansfield later started helping with the business in later years.

The auction house was contacted but has so far no one has been unavailable for comment.

ATG understands that consignors have been asked to collect their stock from the saleroom.
