A 25-year-old man from the local area around where Mercer’s body was found was taken into custody yesterday on suspicion of murder.

The latest development in the investigation follows the arrest of a 52-year-old man and another 25-year-old man last week, both of whom have been bailed.

Mercer’s body was found by a neighbour in the front garden of her home in West Molesey, Surrey on March 14. A forensic examination later confirmed that her death was caused by “multiple blows to the head”.

Meanwhile, the family of the late mother-of-two has released a short statement through the police: “We are all utterly devastated to have lost Robyn. She was a wonderful person, loving mother and devoted friend. Thank you to all our friends and family for their love and support.

“We would appreciate privacy at this difficult time.”

Surrey Police said the investigation is ongoing.
