The theft at occurred between 8am and 6.30pm on Tuesday, August 2.

The cache of stolen items comprised mostly typical ecclesiastical plate from the late 19th and 20th centuries.

However, among the more valuable and identifiable items was a communion set by Francis Spillsbury with a presentation inscription dated 1732.

Also taken was a plate (probably Exeter 1705) with a Latin inscription dated 1706. The 10in diameter plate was inscribed to the base: ‘Hanc patinam Sacris in Ecclesia de Blackley pro Singulari Sua pietate Dedicavit Dna Elizabetha Uxor Francisci Martyn Armigeri 1706’.

Anyone with information or who has seen these items being offered should call police on 101 quoting incident 393 of August 2.
