The dealer and interior design expert will leave his Museum Street shop next week and open on Belgravia’s Pimlico Road by Christmas. The new shop will sell his whole range of interior and home furnishings, as well as his antique collection.
He will keep his store on Kensington Church Street but has sold the building in Museum Street where he has run a shop for the past eight years.
Kime said: “We’re very much looking forward to being in the area among other interior designers and collectors in this well-established, internationally renowned design district Pimlico Road.”
Kime will join other recent arrivals to the street in Belgravia including Sibyl Colefax & John Fowler. Neighbours include upmarket interior design firms Linley and Nicholas Haslam.
Landlord Grosvenor is redeveloping the area. Joanna Lea, director of retail and restaurants at Grosvenor, said: “The new stores will complement Pimlico Road’s mix of designers, galleries and antiques dealers, and help ensure this part of our London estate continues flourish and thrive.”
The landlord has plans to renovate buildings in Newson's Yard to create new shops and luxury flats (replacing existing shops and flats) but has faced protests from local businesses.
Kime holds a Royal Warrant and designed the main rooms of Clarence House for Prince Charles, redesigned the Duke of Beaufort’s hunting lodge and counts the Lloyd Webbers among his clients.
