It is Mitton’s first pop-up exhibition and includes works by artists such as Fred Cuming, Mary Feddin and Julian Trevelyan. It is held on the first floor of the venue, with the restaurant running underneath.

“I haven’t done one before because it’s difficult to find the right venue,” Mitton told ATG. “You wouldn’t often want to do one at a restaurant, but this is on the first floor and has wonderfully high windows which brings the pieces to life.”

Mitton visited the restaurant, Koj’s which serves Japanese cooking and cocktails and is run by Kojima, her brother-in-law, during her recent stand at the Westonbirt fair. Kojima had left the first floor free as the size of the kitchen restricts the number of diners.

Mitton set up the show yesterday, bringing 40 and whittling it down to the 22 she felt best suited the domestic-style space.

Mitton, who is from Cheltenham originally, added “it’s my first exhibition on my home turf. I’m interested to see how it’s received”.

The exhibition runs from November 15-19, and Koj’s until Christmas this year.
