Fourth-generation dealer Partridge left the family’s historic Bond Street store to run his own fair-based firm in 2003. As business slowed, the Bond Street store was sold to a consortium in 2005 and finally closed in 2009.
During the past 12 years, Partridge has appeared regularly at the BADA Fair, Masterpiece and New York’s International Show, but says the volume of stock he has built up now merits permanent premises and a shopfront.
The Frederic Mews gallery, which is open by appointment, takes the space originally built for Hotspur, the English furniture dealership whose owner Robin Kern retired in 2008.
Partridge’s grandfather (also Frank) opened the first family gallery in King Street in 1900. The building was destroyed during the Blitz and the business reopened in Bond Street shortly after.
