He is a big fan of the movements he deals in at his shop on the south coast and at fairs including IACF Ardingly and the specialist Art Deco fairs at English Heritage’s Eltham Palace. So much so that Jones has ambitious plans to launch fairs in some of the country’s iconic Art Deco and Arts & Crafts buildings, saying: “I want wonderful backdrops to sell lovely things.’’

He has started with a real beauty in Norfolk at Voewood House near Holt, a Grade I Listed Arts & Crafts mansion owned by antiquarian book dealer Simon Finch and once described by architectural historian Nikolaus Pevsner as “violently idiosyncratic”.

Jones’ second 20-standholder 20th Century Decorative Arts Fair takes place at Voewood on the weekend of June 11-12.

This will be held in a marquee outside the main house, at which, by a judicious piece of planning, the Provincial Booksellers Fairs Association are holding an antiquarian and out-of-print book fair in the main house on June 11.
