Ceramic Art London was established in 2005 by the Craft Potters Association in partnership with York Museums Trust, and Ceramic Art York was launched last year at the new Centre for Ceramic Art at York Art Gallery.
As well as the ceramics selling show, a programme of specialist talks and workshops takes place – always an attraction at these kinds of events.
On the Sunday, a documentary will be shown on the remarkable late self-taught potter Monica Young. She struggled for most of her working life to make a living creating coil-built textured pots taller than herself, of which she made only two or three a year.
These giant pieces are now collected around the world. Born in Paris in 1929, Young trained and worked as a painter until her forties when she changed from painting to pottery.
She set up a studio in North Yorkshire, subsisting frugally on coffee and cigarettes, apparently, until her death in 1974.
