The portrait of the late television presenter Paula Yates, wife of rock star Bob Geldof, was stolen from the living room of the property on October 26.
The 5ft x 4ft (1.52m x 1.22m) acrylic by Northumbrian-born artist Stella Vine is estimated to be worth several thousands of pounds.
Detective Constable Andy Lawrence of the Hastings and Rother priority crime team, said: "We'd like to hear from anyone who saw any suspicious activity in or around the High Street, or who may know what has become of the painting."
