Nigel Smith who has joined Morphets of Harrogate as director.
Smith started out as a ceramics restorer.
After a brief spell at Capes Dunn in Manchester, he joined Sotheby's Chester to train as a valuer and auctioneer.
He moved to Harrogate in 1986 to develop the Fine Art office of Henry Spencer and Sons (later to become Phillips).
