Culture Minister Ed Vaizey is to headline the first Art Business Conference, a new event scheduled for September 4 in London that will tackle key issues for trade professionals.
Former Olympia fairs director Victoria Borwick, now Deputy Mayor for London, will be the other keynote speaker at the one-day event to be held at the Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre in Westminster.
Organisers Art Market Minds have put together a programme for art galleries, auctioneers, advisors and art market professionals "to meet and discuss the key issues affecting the international art market".
Presentations, Q&As and panel discussions will focus on topics including the Artist's Resale Right (ARR), China, selling art online, the commercial art market and social media, and art financing.
Industry experts will share specialist advice and insights on some of the key factors in running an art business, including views from shippers, insurers and art indexes, plus the latest updates in legislation.

Simon Stokes of law firm Blake Lapthorn LLP will share the platform with Leonora Gummer of the Artists Collecting Society to update delegates on the latest position regarding ARR, including what is happening in the United States and France, as well as the latest review of UK policy following the current consultation exercise on its impact.
Fenella Barber, director of the China Britain Business Council, will join dealer Olivier Hervet of the Hadrien Montferrand Gallery, based in mainland China, and Fred Weijgertse, managing director of logistics and shipping experts Crown Fine Art, to offer guidance on doing business in China.
Managing risk and the legal implications of transactions will be the focus of the session on selling art online conducted by Pierre Valentin of Constantine Cannon, a specialist art market lawyer and well-known speaker on the conference and seminar circuit. He will focus in particular on new rules seeking to protect consumers buying online and what they mean for dealers and galleries.
Simon Stokes will be back to talk about the commercial art market and social media, an area with which businesses are becoming increasingly concerned, although many still feel out of their depth. Joining him will be Cathy Ma, a social media strategist and until recently head of social media for publishers IPC Media.
Pierre Valentin will also talk on art financing, particularly the growing trend for leveraging art assets as loan collateral, and where the art finance market is heading.
Georgina Adam, columnist with the Financial Times, The Art Newspaper and BBC.com, will also be speaking.
Louise Hamlin, who is behind the venture, is a graduate of the Courtauld Institute and head of sales at The Art Newspaper.
She told ATG: "Having witnessed the growth of the global art market and art fairs, I wanted to create an annual forum where galleries and art market professionals could meet and discuss the key issues and challenges their businesses face, and to be informed on the latest updates in legislation, digital and online technology, market intelligence and key operational aspects including insurance and shipping."
