While her love of painting is widely known, her enthusiasm as a collector of pottery and porcelain is certainly less so.

Now that too will come to light as Woolley & Wallis of Salisbury prepare to offer 45 lots from Sister Wendy's collection at their porcelain, pottery and glass sale on April 30.

The eclectic collection spanning continents and hundreds of years has been amassed mainly as the result of the generosity of others. It ranges from Tang Dynasty pottery to porcelain figures made at Germany's Meissen factory in the last few decades.

Many of the objects are associated with Sister Wendy's time spent filming with the BBC and all have lived alongside her in her caravan in the grounds of the Carmelite monastery in Quidenham, Norfolk, where she continues to reside. She is selling the objects to raise funds to help the Order.

Most of the items are estimated in the low hundreds, but among the highlights are these partially restored mid-18th century Meissen figures of Turkish ladies, pictured here, standing 6in (15cm) high, which come with expectations of £800-1200.
