A black tie gala dinner will be held in the Oxford Union debating chamber followed by "traditional time at the bar". Lectures will centre on valuation practice and the museum's collections. An optional private lecture and tour for delegates has also been arranged at Blenheim Palace on Saturday afternoon.

As last year, the conference is open to all and is designed to bring together art and antiques professionals in a convenient format that also fulfils the need for continuing professional development.

"At the start of 2013 RICS changed its CPD regulations so that its qualified members must now complete ten hours formal CPD in addition to a further ten hours private study each year. Our conference aims to provide up to ten hours formal, structured learning CPD for our fellow professionals," said Mr Toovey.

As a result of a debate on good practice in valuation during last year's open forum, Oxford Conferences have now created a series of standard templates for valuation and terms of engagement. Developed in association with Paul Britton, these are intended to promote best practice and more specifically to comply with the RICS Registered Valuation Scheme and RICS Red Book valuation standards, which are binding on all RICS members.

The templates can be downloaded free by registering on the new conference website at www.oxfordconferences.org.

"Professional standards are important and they need to be shared beyond the boundaries of RICS, SOFAA and NAVA," said Mr Toovey. "These templates will provide a measured process for all those carrying out valuations."

Good practice in valuation and the proper use of the templates will be one of the major themes of the conference lecture programme.

Other topics will include 19th century art - a market for revival?, Old Master prints and drawings from the Ashmolean Collection and Henry Moore and Auguste Rodin, based on a private view of a major exhibition at the museum.

Bookings for the conference will be taken via the conference website in due course.
