The Chinese gilt-bronze figure of Maitreya that made £31,000 at The Canterbury Auction Galleries.
Offered in their two-day sale in Kent on April 16-17, it measured 9in (23cm) high and hands held in a dharmacakra mudra.
Bought from Spink & Son Singapore in 1977, it sold for more than ten times its estimate for £31,000.
The buyer's premium was 20%.
