It was created in 2008 by Swiss watch and clock company Jaeger LeCoultre and Australian designer Marc Newson to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the first Atmos clock, invented by Jean-Leon Reutter (1899-1971) in 1928 and manufactured by Jaeger LeCoultre from 1935.

This 11in (28cm) example is numbered 531 of 888 pieces, the number eight used to symbolise infinity and eternity, and encases a 15-jewel movement, with month calendar dial and moon phase.
