A group of items belonging to Inspector Black, the arresting officer in the 1950s murder trial of Timothy Evans, is to be offered for sale on August 4 at Ryedale Auctioneers in Kirkbymoorside, North Yorkshire.

Evans was convicted and hanged for murdering his wife and child, although granted a posthumous pardon after Evans' neighbour, John Christie, was found guilty of their murders along with a number of others.

Comprising a group of medals, documents and personal case notes on the trial, the lot is estimated at £600-800.
