One of the winners of the Antiques Trade Gazette Awards for outstanding works on view at Asian Art in London was this Indian miniature attributed to the Mewar artist Tara exhibited by Simon Ray Indian and Islamic Works of Art.

The prize presented on November 9 for the best three-dimensional object went to Sotheby's for their 8in (20.5cm) high blue and white Yuan Dynasty guan jar, which went on to sell the following day for £2.3m.

In two dimensions the prize went to Simon Ray Indian and Islamic Works of Art of St James's for their Indian miniature, Maharana Sarup Singh throwing a spear into the trunk of a papaya tree, attributed to the Mewar artist Tara, c.1844-45, 11in x 17¼in (28 x 44cm). It is shown right.
