Having had to go it alone since platform partner eBay Live Auctions pulled out at the end of December, LiveAuctioneers reported a 164 per cent increase in site visits over the comparable quarter of 2008.

They also announced the signing of their 800th auction-house client in late March.
“New bidder sign-ups have been coming in at a rate of approximately 4000 per week,” according to chief executive Julian Ellison.

Other statistics reported by the company include an increase to more than 2.6m site visits compared to 984,982 in the first quarter of 2008. Page views had almost doubled to 20.2m, said Mr Ellison, with the number of unique visitors rising from just over 500,000 in Q1 2008 to to 1.67m in Q1 2009.

Search engine referrals were reported as being up from 205,806 to 1.7m for the two periods.
