Valentine Auctions will begin by offering a monthly general sale on the Cosford Auction Rooms site with the first sale scheduled for Monday, August 10.
New owners Peter Andrews, a Shropshire dealer and antique shop manager, and Paul Cleveley, who has a background in IT, are keen to point out they have no connection with the firm of Walker Barnett & Hill which closed suddenly last year. Its proprietor, Chris Sidebotham, who also traded as Cosford Auction Rooms, is understood to have left the country, leaving many vendors and creditors unpaid. Up to 40 official complaints were made to West Mercia Police.
Birmingham-based auction house Biddle & Webb opened a Wolverhampton office at 26 Waterloo Road at the end of February.
