Mrs Hier started organising glass fairs in 1989, but in 1991 launched her National Glass Collectors Fair, now held twice a year at the Heritage Motor Centre, Gaydon in Warwickshire, considered by many to be the UK’s premier glass event.
The glass fair at Gaydon on November 9 will be her last before she passes control to Mr Bishop, who for six years has been successfully running the Cambridge Glass Fair.
Some level of continuity will be maintained by the involvement of Patricia Hier’s son David in the future organisation of the fairs, where he will have a hand in design and administration.
