A court-approved officer has instructed Stair Galleries of Hudson, New York to conduct the first auction of goods from the ‘collection’ on June 7. It is being held at short notice as it is a bankruptcy sale.

On offer is the furniture removed from the 71st Street townhouse gallery, a wide assortment of picture frames plus a large group (approximately 90 lots) of architectural and garden ornament.

These were primarily purchased in 2004 at the Christie’s sale of the Michael Roberts ‘collection’ in Ashurst, Kent. Larry Salander, who filed for bankruptcy protection in November 2007 with debts of $85m, had spent over $1m at the sale.

The viewing begins Saturday, May 24 in two locations: the Granary at 83 Old Lane, Claverack and at Stair Galleries in Hudson. However, all lots will be sold in the gallery by photograph on Saturday, June 7, beginning at 11am.
