Its selection was aided by the Members of the Portobello Antique Dealers’ Association (PADA), whose members compiled a list of anecdotes, quotes and facts, as well as a condensed record of the 23-year history of the PADA.
The Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea Council have recognised the vulnerability of the antiques section in particular and within the next few months will appoint a special Portobello Road Champion to protect the market.
The PADA will launch its next membership and advertising drive for its 2009 brochure on September 13.
