It was awarded to William Patrick Partridge, an active trade unionist, early Sinn Fein member, and trusted friend of one of the uprising's main instigators, James Connolly. Partridge was captured and sentenced to 15 years in Dartmoor Prison for his participation in the rebellion and for anti-recruitment speeches.

However, he was released due to illness and died at home just one year later in 1917 aged 43. His grandson, who now lives in Plymouth, consigned the memento. It is estimated at £5000-7000.
