Antiques at the Armory (best known as the Other Armory show as it is held alongside the Winter Show) looks set to be disrupted as the 69th Regiment National Guard prepares for deployment to Afghanistan.
Stella have so far managed to hold fairs at the 69th Regiment Armory by working around the military’s schedule: for example they have found valet parking for 125 soldiers’ vehicles for a month. In January, however, the whole building could be occupied for training. A back-up plan at another venue is in the works if the armory should become unavailable.
Americana @ The Piers, a popular event in Americana Week, has been cancelled, due to construction problems and overruns on Piers 88-90. The organisers are lobbying the New York City Economic Development Corpor-ation (EDC) to reconsider but has told its dealers a show is unlikely.
