The acquisition means that the London auctioneers have gained a well-known name in the business as well as one of Europe’s largest stocks of shares and bonds, certainly among the best in the world for British and Commonwealth material.

Mr Veissid is known as a foremost expert in bonds and shares. He started out in the auction business at the age of 19, working in the coin department of Sotheby’s, before becoming a dealer in bonds and share certificates in 1976.
