Renovations are almost complete on the former shooting range at Dunmore Court, Abingdon, which will operate as both a large auction saleroom and adjoining estate agency offices.
Both will open early in January with sales held on Saturdays for the convenience of private buyers. A six-month schedule with sales once every three weeks has been drawn up with the first sale on January 19.
Mallams director Benjamin Lloyd told ATGhe envisages Dunmore Court as a middle-range saleroom appealing to a wide audience and Ð with easy access just off the A34, with 2500 sq ft of space and parking for 100 cars Ð the venue where much of MallamsÕ furniture will be sold.
The new selling centre will run alongside MallamsÕ established city-centre salerooms in Oxford (Bocado House) and Cheltenham (Grosvenor Street) and effectively replaces the Bicester saleroom site, which will be partially razed to make way for a new supermarket car park. Bicester had been MallamsÕ general salerooms for seven years and Messengers for many years before then.
