He received France’s premier order in a ceremony conducted by the Minister for Culture, Renaud Donnedieu de Vabres, at the Palais Royale in the ‘Salons’ of the Ministry of Culture in Paris, on September 14.
The citation from President Chirac honoured Mr Eskenazi for supplying remarkable works of art to the great museums of the world, but in particular to Paris’s own Musée Guimet.
News of this singular honour comes as Eskenazi and more than 40 other different dealerships prepare to welcome visitors to the ninth annual Asian Art in London festival that runs from November 2-10.

Giuseppe Eskenazi, London’s pre-eminent dealer in Chinese works of art, has been appointed a Chevalier (Knight) of the Légion d’honneur for services to the arts.
