Following recent upheavals at the venerable firm – including a change of ownership and the departure of specialists – new majority shareholder Olivier Stocker expressed his satisfaction in acquiring both an impressive stock of coins ranging from Greek to British Colonial and a member of the British Numismatic Traders Association with expansive knowledge and established client relationships.
Mr Dawson’s business in the North West will now close as he moves to London.
Spink have recently released their auction sales figures for 2005 turning over £19.7m (hammer). Of this total, stamps accounted for £12.31m, coins for £3.89m, banknotes £2.16m and medals £1.37m.

Leading numismatic auctioneers and dealers Spink have announced the acquisition of B.J. Dawson Coins. Brian Dawson, who opened his first shop in Bolton, Lancashire and has over 40 years’ experience in the coin trade, will join the firm as director of the coin dealing business for Spink.
