Since then there has been regular hunt racing at Newton Abbot Racecourse, the leading summer racecourse in the UK, with racing from the end of March to the last week of August.
The course is also used for a number of other events. The racecourse organises its own regular antiques and collectors fairs, planned by events organiser Sylvia Fairchild. She said: “This is our third year of organising monthly summer antiques fairs and we’re fully booked and with a waiting list. We have around 70 stallholders, some of whom take double stands and the fairs are well attended with around 2500 buyers at each fair.”
