On the opening day of the fair (June 9) Guinevere were awarded a magnum of champagne and £1000 off the 2007 stand for their Asian themed stand with a pagoda roof and walls formed from spectacular, three metre square ancestor paintings and blue and white tiles.

The architect-designed, free-build 'signature' stands that are unique to summer Olympia were as flamboyant and creative as ever. There were 18 this year flanking the dramatic 'grand avenue'.

Runners up, and winners of a bottle of bubbly were Finch & Co. who repeated last year's chain mail stand while Galerie 146 Autegarden-Rapin/Myllendorf also received a special mention for their first signature stand.

The prize for the best of the standard 'shell' stands was awarded to Battersea folk art dealer Robert Young.
