Born in Kilkenny in Ireland, he began his career in marketing, then moved to Scotland. When he was 24 years old, he joined his brother Padraic at Georgian Antiques when the business was exclusively wholesale.
In recent times, due to the changing market, they now have a mixture of wholesale and retail and have diversified into many different areas of the antiques business. Currently employing 20 people, they also hire out furniture for film, theatre and photographers around Scotland.
Sarah Percy-Davis, Chief Executive of LAPADA who is planning a visit to Scotland in March, welcomed John to the Board: “We felt it was important to have a director to represent our membership in Scotland.”
