There was keen trade and private bidding on 14 lots made by Ruhlmann for the Boulogne home of sculptor Joseph Bernard in the 1920s, which totalled €493,700 (£345,000). And Ruhlmann generated the top price at both Tajan and Sotheby's: €155,000 (£108,400) for a pair of giltwood and black velvet Gondole armchairs at Tajan, and €130,000 (£91,000) for a palissander and ivory-inlaid Embassy desk at Sotheby's.

The pair of bronze geometric andirons by Giacometti, seen here, headed Camard's 75-lot Art Deco sale on December 8 where they sold for €175,000 (£122,400). The sale total was €920,000 (£640,000).

Camard's 185-lot Design sale on November 22 totalled €550,000 (£385,000), with a top price of €70,000 (£48,950) for a 7ft (2.2m) Liane wall lamp by Jean Royère, who also led Cornette de St-Cyr's 173-lot €742,000 (£519,000) Design sale on November 29 with a €54,000 (£37,800) Polar Bear settee.
