One such was a 19th century photograph album containing snaps of European and Middle Eastern subjects.
The main attraction here appeared to be the scenes of Venice and The Holy Land which always have appeal. But, even in hindsight, the price
was extraordinary. Estimated at £80-100, the album took £2900.
Bidding also took off for a large collection of postcards and scrap albums from the early 20th century which included European and worldwide topographical, humorous and greeting cards with some by Mabel Lucie Attwell. The collection made £1350.
The most expensive entry was an eye-catching early 19th century occasional table with an oak top containing a specimen marble tablet. Raised on four curious serpent-form iron supports, it brought £3100.
Photography fans take a more positive view
