Pierre Valentin, head of the Art & Cultural Assets Group at Withers, will talk about current legal issues facing art and antiques dealers in the course of their business.
Mr Valentin will address four main issues: the risks involved when conducting valuations; money laundering, with advice on how to protect a business against it and understanding the Proceeds of Crime Act; how to give investment advice without violating the financial services rules; and the new rules for putting art and collectables into a pension and what they will mean for dealers and their customers.
Further details on the seminar are available direct from Sarah Percy-Davis or Fiona Ford at LAPADA on 020 7823 3511.
• TICKETS are still available for AXA’s third annual conference – Rogues Gallery: An Investigation Into Art Theft – at the British Museum over two days from November 1-2.
Further details and booking forms for the £220 two-day conference – with an £18-a-head drinks reception at the end of the first day – are available online on the Axa website at www.axa-art.co.uk.
