Alex Neish is to donate a small collection of Judaica to a museum at the recently excavated and restored 12th century synagogue in Barcelona.

The pewter enthusiast, profiled in ATG No 1672, January 15, is to donate around 18 rare survivals including a Purim charger made by Benedict Discher of Tolz in 1725. Made to celebrate the 4th century BC escape of the Persian Jews from a planned pogrom, it is engraved to the well with intertwined fish while the rim announces in Hebrew characters: “When the month of Adar comes there will be joy in the air.”
