Speaking from New York last week, the dealer said: “I personally scoured the globe, including every dealer of Jensen known to us, to find the rare and unusual pieces in this multi-million dollar collection.”

This is the first auction exclusively devoted to Jensen, and Mr James,
who for the past decade claims to have been the world’s biggest stockist of the Danish silver designer, has received many calls from his clients who are excitedly thumbing through the catalogue.

Incidentally, The Silver Fund has closed its Madison Avenue shop after two years. “Two robberies in quick succession made the cost of insurance for the freestanding store untenable in 2005,” said Michael James.

However, his firm will maintain a formidable presence in the United States where they stand at more than 15 fairs a year.

I reported last year that The Silver Fund had opened an outlet at the San Francisco store Gump’s. Their London headquarters remains at 1 Duke of York Street, SW1.
