The veteran Bond Street dealership's new spacious contemporary look has been achieved by removing a central staircase that bisected the space in favour of a spiral stairway at one end.
With a whiff of floor varnish still in the air, launching the new basement showroom was a dramatic exhibition of Emily Young's stone sculpture. Upstairs on the ground-floor gallery, a more traditional array of Arts and Crafts furnishings was mixed with pictures by two artists: 60 works by Joseph Southall (1861-1944) and 40 abstract paintings by the reclusive London Group member Edgar Hubert (1906-1985).
All were finding buyers but within days the keenly-priced Hubert 'rediscovery' exhibition proved a white-glove affair. All 40 of the works, priced from £750 to £6500, had sold by Thursday.
