The West London fair, launched with some success in 2003 but quiet last year, was scheduled to take place from August 18-21.

The decision to postpone this year – blamed upon the close proximity of the fledgling event to big fairs earlier in the summer months – underlines both the long-standing difficulties of holding a major fair in the month of August and the current pressures felt by organisers and exhibitors as fairs in the capital continue to struggle. Last week, Robert Bailey announced the cancellation of this year’s fair at Claridges Hotel.

The two-section formula of Antiques For Everyone at the NEC has been replicated in three venues – the SECC, Glasgow, Manchester’s GMEX and Earls Court Two, but only the Scottish event, now in its fifth year, has enjoyed any great longevity. Centre Exhibitions will launch a new collectables fair at the NEC in October titled Collect It.
