SOFA stands for Sculpture, Objects and Functional Art and the shows are gallery-based exhibitions of works linking Contemporary decorative and fine arts.

SOFA Chicago has just staged its 12th annual autumn exhibition at Navy Pier with a gate of 30,000, while the smaller-scale SOFA New York attracted 14,000 at the Seventh Regiment Armory on Park Avenue in June.

San Francisco-based dmg world media, who have been working closely with SOFA founder and director Mark Lynam for more than two years, already produce the annual Palm Beach!, one of the world’s top international fine art and antique fairs, and the annual PB3, a top Contemporary art and photography show held in South Florida. SOFA will work closely with both these established events.

The addition of SOFA to their stable gives ATG owners dmg a very timely entree into the flourishing and expanding Chicago art scene, and more importantly it gives them a high profile presence in New York. It also gives dmg a foothold in the Seventh Regiment Armory, venue for all Manhattan’s top art shows.

Mark Lynam and his staff will continue to run the SOFA shows from their Chicago base.
