The three men involved in the theft tied a rope to their van to remove the grille and then smashed through the front windows in the early hours of December 16, causing a high level of damage to the shop front.

They were in and out of the premises in under two minutes. However, on entering the premises, one of the thieves was cut on the broken glass and the police are examining what DNA evidence may be available.

The stolen items included a George III period bracket clock by George Tupman; Regency bracket clocks by both William Goodhugh and Thomas Earnshaw, and a wheel barometer with thermometer and hydrometer by J. Tara.
