Roughly half of the €560,440 sale total came from 19th century pictures, with the middle-market Dutch pictures proving predictably popular. Another winter scene, Skaters on a Frozen River by Jan Jacob Coenraad Spohler (1837-1923), sold for a mid-estimate €8000 (£5333) and Arend Jan van Driesten's (1878-1969) oil on canvas of a farm in a river landscape made an above-estimate €7000 (£4667). In all, 71 per cent of the 416 lots found buyers.

The Old Master paintings achieved the highest selling rate. Although many of the works on offer were catalogued as "after" or "in the manner of" great artists like Rubens or Raphael, 80 of the 92 pictures found buyers (87 per cent).

Impressionist and Modern pictures were slightly down on this figure, with 82 of 131 selling (63 per cent).
