Organised by the British Crafts Council, over 40 exhibitors will be showing the latest in contemporary objects, whether it be furniture and other items for the home or head-turning jewellery. British crafts and decorative art galleries just have the edge in terms of numbers at the fair, but there are nonetheless around 15 overseas galleries participating from Continental Europe, Australia, Japan and the US.
All the galleries are showcasing work by their principal artists, many of whom are using this inaugural event to launch a new body of work.
In addition there will be nine installations specially created for the show by major British luminaries of the contemporary crafts world, including ceramicist Edmund de Waal, glass artist Danny Lane and jeweller and metalworker Wendy Ramshaw.
Visitors to the fair can expect to see plenty of ceramics, glass and wood in all its forms, as well as textiles, jewellery and metalwares. Prices start at around £300 and go up to £30,000 and beyond. There will also be a seminar and lecture programme to accompany the fair.
